Each repository carries its LICENSE file once it is public.
What that means for you
- Use them for anything — personal, work, commercial projects — for free.
- Read and change the code, and share your changes.
- Fork them. A fork, or anything built from their code, must stay open source under the same licence, with its source available. That keeps the apps free for everyone: nobody can take them closed and sell them back.
- DialCatz Den uses the AGPL: if you offer a modified Den to other people over a network, you share those changes too.
- The names and the cat are not part of the licence. A fork uses its own name and icon. See the repository’s
TRADEMARKS.md.
Contributions
Contributors sign a short contributor licence agreement on their first pull request. You keep the copyright of your work.
Software inside the apps
The apps are built on open-source projects — Electron (with Chromium and Node.js), Vue, Tailwind CSS, daisyUI, the database drivers DBCatz uses and more. Each app ships the full list with every licence text, and opens it from Settings → About → Third-party licences, even offline. The same lists, per app:
DoCatz gets its list with its first build.
The runtimes and databases DevCatz installs for you — PHP, Node.js, Bun, Go, Python, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis and others — are downloaded from their official sources and stay under their own licences.
This website
catzoid.com is built with these open-source projects, all MIT-licensed. The site’s own code and content are not open source.
