Uninstall

Remove DevCatz or DBCatz completely — the app, its data, and every change DevCatz made to your Mac.

Deleting the app is not enough for DevCatz: undo its system changes first, from inside the app, while it is still installed. It takes a minute.

DevCatz

1. Undo the system changes (in the app)

In DevCatz Settings:

  1. Project → Disable clean URLs — removes the two LaunchDaemons.
  2. Project → Remove from keychain — removes DevCatz Local CA from your login keychain.
  3. General → Remove resolver — only if you set a custom domain instead of .localhost.
  4. General → Launch at login — off.

Then stop your sites and services, and quit DevCatz from the menu bar (Quit), not just the window.

2. Delete the app and its data

  1. Drag DevCatz from Applications to the Trash.
  2. Delete its data folder — your runtimes, databases’ data, certificates, logs and settings:
rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/DevCatz"

Your databases’ data lives in that folder (db-services/data). Export anything you want to keep first.

  1. If you added DevCatz’s bin folder to your PATH, remove that line from ~/.zshrc.

Installed with Homebrew? After step 1 of this guide (the system changes, from inside the app), one line removes the app and its data folder, caches and settings instead of the steps above:

brew uninstall --zap --cask devcatz

If DevCatz is already gone

Remove the system changes by hand (you will be asked for your password):

# URLs without a port
sudo launchctl bootout system /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.mrcatz.herd.forward-https.plist
sudo launchctl bootout system /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.mrcatz.herd.forward-http.plist
sudo rm -f /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.mrcatz.herd.forward-https.plist /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.mrcatz.herd.forward-http.plist

# the resolver of a custom domain (only files that say "Managed by DevCatz")
grep -l "Managed by DevCatz" /etc/resolver/* 2>/dev/null | xargs -r sudo rm -f

Remove the certificate in Keychain Access: login keychain → Certificates → DevCatz Local CA → Delete. Remove the login item in System Settings → General → Login Items.

DBCatz

DBCatz changes nothing outside its own folder.

  1. Quit DBCatz and drag it from Applications to the Trash.
  2. Delete its settings and saved connections:
rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/DBCatz"

Installed with Homebrew? brew uninstall --zap --cask dbcatz does both steps.

DialCatz

DialCatz changes nothing outside its own folder and its Keychain items.

The easy way: DialCatz → Settings → Uninstall DialCatz lists everything first, then removes it — its collections, environments and history, the DialCatz Den tokens in your Keychain, caches and logs — and moves the app to the Trash. By hand:

  1. Quit DialCatz and drag it from Applications to the Trash.
  2. Delete its collections, environments, history and settings:
rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/DialCatz"

Installed with Homebrew? brew uninstall --zap --cask dialcatz does both steps (the Den tokens stay in the Keychain until you remove them in Keychain Access, or use the in-app Uninstall).

Shared by the Catzoid apps

When no Catzoid app is left:

rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Catzoid"

and delete the Catzoid AI items in Keychain Access (they hold your AI keys).
