Prefer Homebrew?
One line in Terminal brings the cat home — Apple silicon or Intel, picked for your Mac. Homebrew asks you to trust the tap the first time; after that it is just brew install --cask docatz.
brew tap catzoidhub/catz && brew trust catzoidhub/catz && brew install --cask docatzHistory

v1.0.1
3 Nov 2026latestNew
- Move from another Docker: Engine → Move from another Docker finds Docker Desktop, OrbStack, Colima or Rancher Desktop and copies the images and volumes you pick onto DoCatz's engine. Volumes keep their names and compose labels, so a project's
docker compose upfinds its data. Nothing is removed from the other engine, so both can stay side by side. - Compose files in a code editor: YAML colours, line numbers, folding, and Find & Replace (Cmd/Ctrl+F or the button in the header). Closing with changes that are not saved asks first. Up and Build always save before they run.
- Open in DialCatz on the API itself: the button sits on the API's own container, as Open in DBCatz does on a database. It shows only where DialCatz can import routes: Laravel's route list, an OpenAPI file, or a framework that serves one. It is not shown on front ends, plain images, databases or workers.
- DevCatz Services (Windows): what DevCatz runs on DoCatz's engine is in one read-only group: its gateways, plus Typesense, Sonic and Sockudo, which have no Windows build of their own. DevCatz installs, starts and stops them.
- The other Catzoid apps: Download & Install gets the build for this computer from catzoid.com, now on macOS too. Settings → About shows the version of each app you have, and when a newer one is out.
Fixed
- The Engine page could stay on Starting… after the engine was already running.
Install: download below, from catzoid.com/docatz/download, or with Homebrew: brew tap catzoidhub/catz && brew trust catzoidhub/catz && brew install --cask docatz. DoCatz 1.0.0 updates itself.
The Windows installer is not code-signed. It is a stable release, built by GitHub Actions from the public source, but Windows SmartScreen warns when you open it: choose More info → Run anyway. Free signing from the SignPath Foundation needs a project that more people use and talk about. A ⭐ on this repository, issues, pull requests and write-ups all help DoCatz get there (code signing policy).
Apple silicon and Intel, macOS 13 or later; signed and notarized by Apple, and the app updates itself. Windows 10 / 11 x64 with WSL 2 (DoCatz offers to install it): DoCatz-Setup-1.0.1.exe (not code-signed, see above), updates itself as well.
v1.0.0
2 Nov 2026The first release of DoCatz: a light Docker engine and container manager in the Catzoid family. Free and open source.
What's in it
- Its own engine. On a Mac, DoCatz runs Docker in a light Linux VM (Lima, Apple's Virtualization framework) with fast file sharing from your home folder. It comes with its own
docker, docker composeanddocker buildx, and adocatzcontext you can make the default. Intel images run through Rosetta on Apple silicon. On Windows, the engine runs in WSL 2. - A domain for every container.
https://<service>.<project>.docatz.localhost, with no published ports and no change to your compose files, on a local CA your browser trusts. Names without a port work too. - Compose projects as the main view. Your containers are grouped by project, with favorites and your own groups. Each container shows the mark of the framework it is built from.
- Each project has its own page: General, an Environment with its own
.envkept in DoCatz, Domains, Containers and Monitoring. - From there you can run Build & Up, Up, Restart, Stop and Down, with live output and Cancel.
- Each project has its own page: General, an Environment with its own
- Per container: logs coloured like a code editor, with search; a terminal; a file browser; stats.
- Images, Volumes, Networks and Builds (BuildKit history), plus Monitoring and ready-to-run Commands.
- Databases on this computer. Every database container answers on
127.0.0.1(Postgres 15432, MySQL 13306, Redis 16379 …) without publishing a port. - With the other Catzoid apps:
- DevCatz's Build & Up runs on DoCatz's engine, and the domains, CA and names without a port are shared with it.
- Open in DialCatz turns a project's HTTP services into an environment with its routes.
- Open in DBCatz opens a database container straight away. It needs DBCatz 1.0.4.
- AI when you want it (your own provider): Ask DoCatz, Explain with AI in Logs, and writing or fixing compose files.
- Updates inside the app, Report a Bug with screenshots, and an Uninstall that says exactly what it removes.
Install: download below, from catzoid.com/docatz/download, or with Homebrew: brew tap catzoidhub/catz && brew trust catzoidhub/catz && brew install --cask docatz.
